The "festival for everyone" has been taking place since 1992, conceived by Leandro Knopfholz and Carlos Eduardo Bittencourt. Since then, it has become a reference in the performing arts in Brazil and around the world.

The Curitiba Festival editions began to include, in 1998, an imported version of the Fringe, a Scottish-origin showcase, when theatre companies not included in the Edinburgh International Festival decided to create a parallel event. This milestone led to the creation of various Fringes around the world. Its uniqueness lies in creating a free, democratic, and uncensored space for artistic companies that attend the event in search of visibility, audience, and media coverage.

In 2023, the event reached its 31st edition, solidified as a space for training, updating, and reflection for artists and audiences. It is the moment when all eyes turn to the stage the city becomes, strengthening art and inclusive theatre.

The 32nd edition of the Festival will take place between March 27 and April 7 this year. According to the organizers, the expectation is that the traditional Paraná festival will feature over 300 performances in various showcases, events, and cultural activities. The Fringe is already open for applications from producers, groups, or institutions interested in participating.
